Palma de Majorca.—Watchdog “Hotel Price Index” reports which are published monthly by Trivago said that Palma is registering the costliest average hotel room prices in the country, even more so than Barcelona, despite the fact that Palma registered a 13% downturn in costs during this year.

There were significant price fluctuations in the towns and cities of Spain throughout 2011 confirmed the price index. A hotel room in Logroño for example now costs 25% more now than it did in January this year and the same has happened with Seville which has become 12 percent dearer.

At the other end of the scale, Valladolid and A Coruña head the price downturns where average room costs have fallen by 21 percent.
The Balearics is also the region with the highest average cost over the whole of the year, around 113 euros, higher than the Canary Islands (107 euros), Catalonia (99) and Madrid (93).

In Spain as a whole, said Trivago, the average cost of a hotel room is more or less the same now (with one euro of difference) as it was at the beginning of a year, around 89 euros.
