With the June 20 general strike looming, Balearic president Francesc Antich is under pressure from local union leaders to lodge an appeal against central government's controversial labour reform bill, passed last Friday, in the constitutional tribunal in Madrid. Unions are threatening to bring Palma airport to a complete stand still on June 20 when all public services will come to a halt. Hotel federations have said that employees are not going to take strike action, however if Palma's Son San Joan airport is brought to a halt, nearly a year after the coach strike, the damage to the Balearics' already dented image, will be severe.
