The super yacht to the stars, the Rising Sun, is moored up the Bay of Palma after a long summer which has seen her hosting the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey. The spectacular yacht has been cruising sound Balearic waters for the last two months. She has been at anchor off Sóller for the last week before moving to the Bay of Palma.
Rising Sun is an extraordinary 138.6m motor yacht built by Lürssen in Germany in 2004, with a major refit in 2011. Designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg, her exterior is marked by striking full-height curved glass windows and an exposed Z-frame structure, while the interiors—styled by Seccombe Design—feature elegant, calming neutral palettes.
Accommodating up to 18 guests across nine suites, she boasts lavish amenities like a cinema, wine cellar, spacious spa, gym, swimming pool, basketball court (which doubles as a helipad), and a wine cellar. Previously owned by Larry Ellison and now fully owned by David Geffen since 2010. Powered by four MTU diesel engines, she reaches cruising speeds of 26 knots and a top speed of around 30 knots
Also, now in the Club de Mar is the world’s biggest sailing yacht. The Koru is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Commissioned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and delivered in 2023 by Oceanco, Koru is a 127-metre three-masted sailing superyacht with a navy-blue hull—making it the largest true sailing yacht in the world. Estimated at around $500 million, the yacht accommodates 18 guests served by a crew of 36–40 and features a lavish aft-deck swimming pool, jacuzzis, and elegant interiors by Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi.
Its name, “Koru,” inspired by Māori art, signifies new beginnings—a fitting choice for Bezos’s personal chapter. The yacht sails at up to 20 knots, aided by its hybrid propulsion of sails and engines, and is accompanied by a 75-metre support vessel, Abeona, housing extra crew, toys, and a helipad.
