Busy times at Palma College

| Palma |

As one year ends and a new one begins Palma College continues its programme of special events including a community lunch, an inspirational guest speaker, and an upcoming Taster Day; a key opportunity for prospective students to get a ‘real feel’ of what it’s like to study A Levels and BTECs in the heart of Palma.

The end of term saw tables that are usually reserved for textbooks and laptops fill with food and culture as students brought and shared dishes from an eclectic mix of countries and traditions. This special event gave staff and students the chance to come together in a more relaxed context to share food, conversation and a sense of community, marking the end of what was an eventful and exciting year at the college.

No sooner had the new year started than students were treated to another special event; guest speaker and ex-alumni Carolina Porquer returned to the college to talk about a topic that is a concern for everybody, especially young people; social media and mobile phones. In this thought-provoking, interactive presentation, Carolina, who went on from Palma College to study Psychology at Suffolk University, helped us to understand the science and psychology behind mobile-phone use, raising awareness of how we can all try to manage the potentially addictive and harmful side-effects.

Ready to share everything that makes it unique, Palma College opens its doors on the 4th of February to potential future students with a Taster Day. Highly popular, these days provide the opportunity for students to try up to seven subjects, as well as getting a real feel of what it’s like to study in a college which values independence, mutual respect and personal growth. Palma College prides itself on empowering students to make confident choices about their futures, and Taster Days are the perfect start to this
