Palma Local Police, in collaboration with the Port Authority, has carried out a new operation against illegal street vending in the areas of Parc de la Mar, Hort des Rei and Dalt Murada, all around the Cathedral, which has resulted in the seizure of 440 kilograms of goods and the reporting of three hawkers.

The operation forms part of the enforcement measures being implemented by Palma Local Police to step up controls on unauthorised street vending, with the aim of ensuring safety and compliance with current regulations.

The operation, which took place on the morning of last Thursday, involved a total of 35 officers from various police units, including the Motorised Unit (UMOT), the Comprehensive Security Unit (USEI) and the Community Outreach Team (ECOP). It also received support from the Drone Unit (UDROP) and the cooperation of Port Police officers.

During the operation, officers carried out preventive patrols, identified suspected offenders and processed the corresponding reports. Palma City Council reaffirms its commitment to combating illegal street vending and defending local businesses, in line with the provisions of the Ordinance for the Promotion of Civic Coexistence.

It should be noted that this regulation, in force since 25 May, prohibits the street vending of food, drinks and other products, as well as collaborating with these vendors or purchasing items from them.
Sellers themselves are subject to fines of between 750 and 1,500 euros. For buyers the range is 100 to 750.
