Despite all the doom and gloom and uncertainty because of the Middle East conflict, it appears that Britons are still planning on going on holiday this Easter and beyond and Mallorca has been ranked as Europe’s best destination for a family holiday in a new index released by easyJet and easyJet Holidays.

The Family Holiday Index ranks the destinations that make travelling with children easiest and most enjoyable, analysing factors such as flight times of 4 hours and under, access to beaches and pools, the density of family-friendly attractions like waterparks and mini golf, travel logistics, everyday holiday costs and airport ease.

Just behind in second place is the Algarve, Costa del Sol takes third place. Further down the ranking, Mediterranean island escapes feature strongly, with destinations prized for their family-friendly beaches and relaxed resort life. Italy’s Sardinia, which ranks sixth, charms with its crystal-clear waters and calm, shallow beaches that are perfect for younger swimmers, while Crete takes seventh place thanks to its sprawling coastline, welcoming resorts and wealth of family attractions, from waterparks to boat trips along the island’s sun-drenched shores.

Elsewhere in the top ten, destinations including Costa Blanca, Ibiza and Barcelona’s coastal resorts highlight Spain’s continued dominance as the go-to destination for UK family holidays. Last month easyJet reported that according to their findings, over half (52%) of Britons were planning to visit a new country this year.

And while over half (52%) plan on going on two or more holidays, a lucky 6% are hoping to go on more than five. And, according to the easyJet report, in 2026, holidays are no longer about passive rest alone. They are about purpose, passion and participation. People are increasingly choosing destinations based on their current hobbies and interests – from sport to spirituality.

However, the Middle East crisis appears to have changed travel plans. And while Mallorca is gaining a lot of social media search traction, so too is Ibiza. Searches for flights to Ibiza have increased by 4 per cent since the start of the conflict in the Middle East, according to a statement issued by the Council of Ibiza.

The Tourism Intelligence System (SIT) is monitoring the behaviour of airlines and the interest in the island at this time. Between 28 February and 9 March, searches for airlines flying to the island rose from 4,106,886 in 2025 to 4,602,334 in 2026, an increase of 10.77 per cent. The SIT has stated that, although this figure increases every year at this time, searches for Ibiza have actually increased by 4 per cent since the start of the conflict.

The nationalities most interested in searching for flights to Ibiza include Americans, who have increased their searches by 31.21 per cent since the start of the conflict, from 167,666 to 243,746.
They are followed by Belgians, with an increase of 29.22 per cent; Dutch, with an increase of 23.23 per cent; and Italians, with 22.5 per cent more searches.

However, since 28 February, Swiss searches for Ibiza have fallen by 47.60 per cent, French searches by 8.1 per cent and Irish searches by 6.09 per cent. At the moment, there has been no increase in ticket prices or accommodation costs. The SIT has reiterated that the data shows that Ibiza continues to be a destination in high demand, with search volumes this year remaining above 2025 levels.
