The National Police have dismantled a criminal group that was involved in violent thefts of high-end watches in Mallorca and Ibiza, making off with more than half a million euros. Two of the members are in prison in the United Kingdom, while a third was arrested in Catalonia and is now in provisional detention, according to a press release from the police headquarters.

Thanks to investigations carried out by the National Police Robbery Group in Palma and the Central Unit for Specialised and Violent Crime (UDEV) of the National Police in Ibiza, a criminal group was identified that was highly organised and coordinated in carrying out these crimes. They used false documentation, for example, to rent cars.

According to the officers’ account, those under investigation divided up the tasks, with some taking on the role of surveillance and selecting the victims. Others were responsible for tracking and maintaining communication with the rest of the members, and the last ones carried out the robbery by violently snatching the previously selected high-end watch, supported at all times by the getaway vehicle.

The police explained that on 22 August 2025, two robberies took place in Mallorca in less than an hour. The alleged perpetrators selected their victims, pounced on them and snatched their watches. One of the victims struggled with one of the thieves but was unable to prevent the robbery. The total value of the two watches was €95,000.

Investigations also suggest that the suspects travelled to Ibiza and committed two robberies between 25 and 28 August. To do so, they rented a vehicle with false documentation and committed the crimes using violence. In this case, the haul amounted to €430,000, bringing the total amount stolen to €525,000.

Officers from the Robbery Squad in Palma and the UDEV in Ibiza carried out numerous investigations and managed to identify the members of the group. The officers issued police warrants for their arrest and continued their efforts to locate them. The investigation led to the arrest in Catalonia of one member of the criminal group, who has already been imprisoned. Two other members of the group were located in the United Kingdom and are also behind bars.
