A former partner of Prince Harry has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Mallorca after allegedly leaving a hotel in Santa Ponsa without paying a bill of more than €500. Mallorca-based interior designer Catherine Ommanney, is said to have stayed at the establishment for nine nights before departing without settling the amount owed. She was later released by a duty judge. And this morning she exclusively denied the charges to the Bulletin saying that Sunday was a “nightmare of a day”.
She told the Bulletin “It was a clerical error, nothing more. The bill was paid via a bank transfer - the hotel does not take credit cards - and Sunday was the worst day of my life. I certainly did not like being kept in a holding cell. I will be seeking an apology through the justice system.”
Ommanney, 53, is a former reality television personality who previously told The Sun that she had a brief romantic relationship with the Duke of Sussex. According to sources within the Guardia Civil, she stayed at the three-star Hotel Playas del Rey, where the unpaid bill exceeded €500.
Investigators said that when making the reservation, Ommanney provided a credit card that did not have sufficient funds. As a result, the hotel was unable to process the payment for her stay.
A representative of the hotel filed a complaint on Tuesday morning at the Guardia Civil station in Calvia, leading to Ommanney’s arrest on suspicion of fraud. She was later taken to the courts on Vía Alemania, where the duty magistrate ordered her release that afternoon.
Several media outlets report that Ommanney has previously stated that she had a two-month affair with Prince Harry in 2006, when she was 34 and he was 21. She has also said that they met in a bar in Chelsea and that she does not expect to feature in the prince’s memoir, citing the circumstances of their relationship.
In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored in 2022, Catherine Ommanney said the Duke of Sussex seemed like a “different person”. The Real Housewives of DC star told Morgan,“I just don’t know if I actually even recognise him anymore, personality-wise. When I watched him in the show, I thought it’s almost like, and my mother would really hate me for saying this, but it’s almost like she’s (Meghan Markle) got aspell over him. And that’s why I don’t recognise him. He used to be so down to earth and normal and there’s so little of him I actually recognise.”
The TV star also spoke of her brief fling with Harry, recalling that he “desperately wanted privacy”.
“He was really funny, a total gentleman, totally down to earth, normal,” she said. Ommanney said she was a 34-year-old mum of two when she met the prince, who was 21 at the time, at Art Bar in Chelsea, London in 2006. They went on a number of dates, she claims. She had the “time of my life” with the prince, including the “most passionate kiss I’ve ever had”.
