The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has withdrawn approval for four V16 beacons just days before their use becomes mandatory for all vehicles on Spanish roads.

The move affects devices from the brands Don Feliz, The Boutique For Your Car, Ikrea, and the Spanish-made Call SOS, following the expiry of their administrative certificates.

Although these products will no longer be sold in shops, drivers who have already bought them will still be able to use them from 1 January 2026, as they meet all technical requirements.

The withdrawal is mainly due to manufacturers failing to renew their licences, rather than any technical faults with the lights themselves.

Consumer association Facua has confirmed that beacons purchased before approval expired meet all necessary safety standards to replace traditional warning triangles.
