Woman charged with causing Alcudia fatal accident; she lied to police

The Guardia Civil have charged a 29-year-old Dutch woman with manslaughter due to gross negligence and three crimes of serious injury due to gross negligence that are related to the fatal accident in Alcudia on November 15.

The charges have arisen from investigation of the fatal collision between two vehicles at the Horse Roundabout. At the time of the accident, the woman told the Guardia Civil that she had been a passenger in one of the two cars. According to her version, the driver was the 53-year-old man, also Dutch, who died.

There were no witnesses to this, investigators having now established that the woman was the driver and that she had entered the roundabout in the wrong direction.

The charges carry sentences of between one and four years.
