There has been a massive drop in crime this year in the municipality of Calvia, which includes the popular resorts of Magalluf, Santa Ponsa and Palmanova, with the council confirming that the British were their number 1 holidaymaker.

According to council figures there was a big drop in crime during the key summer months. In July there were 406 reported crimes compared to 870 during the same month in 2024. In August there were 330 reported crimes compared to 643 in the same period in 2024. In 2025 there were 80 drug related offences compared to 372 in 2024.

The council also said that the new-look Magalluf was winning the "hearts and minds of tourists" with the resort now welcoming a variety of different nationalities but the British were still the key market. This is the case for the whole municipality with British tourism being the top market.

The number of hotels opens this winter has also risen. The hugely popular Cabau Aquasol is planning a major improvement project which will make the hotel complex four star. The Santa Ponsa golf hotel is being refurbished and next year the five-star Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra will open.

The council said that it had been an exceptionally good season for the municipality and they underlined the success of the annual convention of the Association of British Travel Agents in October in Magalluf.
