The National Police officers, in collaboration with the Mossos d’Esquadra police force in Barcelona, have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery committed in Palma at the end of September. Officers from the National Police Robbery Unit in Palma investigated a violent robbery that took place last September in a doorway in Palma’s old town, when a man was approached by an individual who twisted his arm and stole a high-end watch worth around €56,000.
In the complaint filed at the end of September, the victim reported that he had been in the city centre all day with some friends. At around 8 p.m., he went with the woman and a friend to a house in the centre of Palma. Once inside the doorway, his companions took the lift to the upper floors, leaving the man in the doorway.
According to the police, at that moment, a young man entered the building lunged at him, grabbing him by the arm and twisting it backwards, stealing the watch from his wrist. The thief then ran out of the building, noticing that another young man was waiting for him on the street, and both fled the scene.
Following the complainant’s statements, officers from the National Police Robbery Squad opened an investigation. After extensive inquiries, both were fully identified. Once the identifying details of the alleged perpetrators had been obtained, a search and arrest warrant was issued for both of them.
The officers observed and confirmed that the alleged perpetrators had been following their victim throughout the day, from one place to another in the city, waiting for the right place and time to carry out the robbery, which they finally did at around 8 p.m. after approaching their victim and taking the high-end watch he was wearing.
Finally, one of the alleged suspects was located in Barcelona after leaving the island, requesting the collaboration of the Catalan Regional Police, who proceeded to arrest him. At the moment, the investigation remains open in order to locate the second alleged perpetrator and recover the stolen watch.
