The National Police report having arrested four men, all Senegalese, for robberies that targeted tourists in Playa de Palma.

The arrests were made last Saturday after their car, which was being driven at high speed, was stopped and searched. When the car was stopped, officers noticed that one of the four threw a pink-coloured phone under the car.

In a backpack were ten phones. They had been covered by sand. One of the phones rang. A female tourist said it was her phone. Some time earlier, by a club in Playa de Palma, two men had hugged her. When they left, she realised her phone had been stolen. One of the other phones had a sticker with a woman's name.

The officers were able to confirm that all the phones had been recently stolen. Cash and other items were also recovered.

The group had operated in a coordinated manner, approaching tourists and dancing with them. In creating a distraction, they stole the phones and other personal belongings. One tourist reported having been punched in the face when he realised that his phone had been stolen.
