Holiday bookings to the Balearics up 22.3% on last year

Holiday bookings to the Balearics have increased by 22.3% over the last seven days compared to the same period last year, although they have fallen by 3.3% compared to the previous week, according to data published on Monday by the Travelgate platform.

The Balearics have gone from being the third most popular destination in Spain to the fourth, with 13.2% of bookings, after Catalonia (18%), Andalusia (16.8%) and the Canary Islands (13.2%). According to data published by the platform, 18.8% of bookings made in the last seven days to Spain were made between 15 and 30 days in advance and 17.2% between one and two months before the trip.

Last-minute bookings, made the day before or on the day of travel, accounted for 13.8%.
Of the bookings made in the last week, couples accounted for 55% of the total. In addition, just over half of travellers (50.8%) requested accommodation for between two and five nights.

In terms of markets of origin, domestic tourism predominates among those who have made reservations in the last seven days through Travelgate: Spaniards accounted for 50.4%, followed by British (20.5%) and Germans (4.3%), with Americans and French tied for fourth place (2.7%).
