There was a very slight fall in total tourist numbers in Mallorca in July (-0.8%), with the two main foreign markets - Germany and the UK - both having decreased compared with July 2024. For the whole of the Balearics, there was a 0.8% increase in all tourist numbers to 3,058,899.

Of the two, the German decrease in Mallorca was the greater, a fall of 8.6%; the UK was down 2.2%. German tourism has therefore fallen for three consecutive months. In May, UK tourism registered an increase, but then dropped in June.

Given the fact that German tourists to the Balearics are overwhelmingly concentrated in Mallorca, the July decrease for the Balearics was almost identical. UK tourism is more distributed, and there was growth of almost 15% in Menorca and of 10.7% in Ibiza/Formentera. This gave an overall increase of 3.4% for the Balearics.

Mallorca attracted 1,989,382 tourists in July, Spanish tourism (the third largest market), French and Italian all having increased. Italy's growth was 23%, though the number of tourists (52,170) was way below those of Germany (575,455) and the UK (334,913). In the Balearics there were 624,540 German tourists and 576,017 UK.

The slump in German tourism is mainly attributed to the German economy, but also to prices, there having been month after month of growth that averaged around ten per cent until a sudden reverse in May.
