Nine million tourists hit the Balearics up to July spending 11.525 billion euros

The Balearics handled 8,990,482 tourists between January and July, 3.2% more than last year, who spent €11.525 billion, representing an increase of 4.8% compared to the first seven months of last year, according to data published on Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE). In July alone, 2,566,441 tourists arrived in the Balearics, 1% more than in July 2024, spending €3.833 billion, 1.6% more than last year, according to surveys of tourist arrivals (Frontur) and tourist spending (Egatur).

The Balearics were the top destination for tourists in July, accounting for 23.3% of all those who travelled to Spain, and also had the highest expenditure, with 3.833 billion euros, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.6%. Average spending per tourist rose by 0.6% to €1,493 in the Balearics in July, and daily spending per person was €242, up 9.6%. However, the average stay in the region fell by 8.3% to 6.2 days.

The autonomous communities with the highest share of tourist spending in July were the Balearics (23.3% of the total), Catalonia (20%) and the Valencian Community (13.5%). Tourist spending increased by 1.6% year-on-year in the Balearic Islands, 5.2% in Catalonia and 8.3% in the Valencian Community. In the first seven months of 2025, the regions with the highest cumulative spending were the Canary Islands (with 18.5% of the total), Catalonia (18.2%) and the Balearics (15.3%).
Spain received 11 million international tourists in July, up 1.6%.

The United Kingdom was the main source, with almost 2.1 million tourists and an increase of 0.7% compared to July 2024. France accounted for 1.6 million (3.1% less) and Germany for 1.2 million (4.8% less). In the first seven months of 2025, the number of tourists visiting Spain increased by 4.1% to over 55.5 million. Total expenditure by international tourists visiting Spain in July reached €16.452 billion, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same month in 2024.

The average expenditure per tourist was 1,493 euros, an annual increase of 4.4%, and the average daily expenditure grew by 6.9% to 210 euros. The main countries of origin in terms of expenditure in July were the United Kingdom (with 17.6% of the total), Germany (9.6%) and France (8.9%). Spending by tourists residing in the United Kingdom increased by 1.9% in annual terms, while that of tourists from Germany decreased by 5.3% and that of tourists from France by 2.1%.
