National Police officers in Palma have arrested a man of Colombian origin as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery. The incident took place last Sunday in the city center, when a woman was in her vehicle with her yound children, preparing to park. At that moment, a man suddenly lunged at her, reaching through the car window and grabbing a gold chain she was wearing around her neck, pulling hard with the clear intention of ripping it off.
The woman stated that when she felt the tug, she grabbed the individual’s arm and, to prevent him from pulling the chain off, she bit him, causing the chain to fall inside the vehicle, at which point the woman took the opportunity to lock the doors.
Without stopping, the individual began to hit the door and windows of the vehicle with the clear intention of getting hold of the chain, but this was not possible as the victim began to scream for help from passersby for fear that the individual would gain access to the vehicle.
Finally, the individual gave up and ran away with other men. Thanks to the help of several members of the general public who came to the woman’s aid after hearing her cries for help, the alleged perpetrator was intercepted and detained by them until the arrival of a police patrol near the Plaza de las Columnas, where he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery.
