American rapper Kanye West and his partner, model and architect Bianca Censori, spent most of last summer in Mallorca. The musician rented out the Pueblo Español for six weeks to record his latest music, and most events at the Pueblo Español were cancelled. The rapper and his wife spent at least a month on the island which has taken him to Cala d’Or and Santantyi. They also apparently stayed at the ex-home of former German super-model Caludia Schiffer in Camp de Mar, Andratx.

More recently, Censori spoke publicly about her alleged relationship crisis with the rapper and the health problems they have both experienced. The Australian explained to Vanity Fair that 2025 was a difficult year for them, but that she always tried to be supportive of her husband: “This year has been like doing CPR for months. I have the love and empathy for him to be able to do that, and I understand that the world doesn’t have it.‘ The designer, now known as “Ye”, suffered a major reputational crisis when he publicly declared himself a ’Nazi’ and even marketed T-shirts with a swastika. He has since apoligised.

“One of the difficult aspects of having bipolar disorder type 1 is the moments of disconnection, many of which I still don’t remember, that led me to poor judgement and reckless behaviour that often feels like an out-of-body experience. I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and I am committed to accountability, treatment and meaningful change. However, this does not justify what I did. I am not a Nazi or an anti-Semite. I love the Jewish people,” he said.

While they were in Mallorca they reportedly checked into a famous rehab clinic on the island.
However, his comments have appeared to have haunted him and led to a series of concerts being cancelled. The Spanish Minister for Culture, Ernest Urtasun, limited himself on Tuesday to stating that the Government is ‘analysing the situation’ regarding the concert that the American rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, is scheduled to give on 30 July at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, after several European countries have banned or cancelled the artist’s performances due to his anti-Semitic comments and glorification of Nazism.

‘At the moment we are analysing the situation. That concert has not yet taken place and we are in the process of analysing the situation,’ Urtasun told the media before attending a meeting with his European counterparts in Brussels. The Culture Minister responded in this way when asked whether the government was considering taking action in light of the controversy surrounding the American artist, who in February last year posted anti-Semitic messages on social media platform X, where he went so far as to write ‘I am a Nazi’, ‘I adore Hitler’ and ‘I am a racist’, as well as selling T-shirts featuring swastikas.

The concert scheduled at Atlético de Madrid’s stadium, which would mark the rapper’s public return to Spain two decades after his last performance in the country, is going ahead for the time being despite the wave of cancellations and bans seen elsewhere in Europe in recent weeks. The UK was the first country to deny the artist entry, a decision that subsequently forced the cancellation of his appearance at London’s Wireless Festival and which the British authorities justified on the grounds that his presence would not be “in the public interest”.

In France too, the singer himself announced the postponement of his concert in Marseille, scheduled for 11 June, after the French Interior Minister warned that he was exploring legal avenues to ban the event. In Poland, the managers of the Silesia Stadium cancelled the concert scheduled for Chorzów after the Polish Minister of Culture, Marta Cienkowska, described it as “unacceptable” to organise a performance by an artist who has publicly expressed anti-Semitic views and trivialised crimes linked to Nazism. Switzerland has also joined these bans, with FC Basel refusing to host a performance by the rapper at its stadium due to his anti-Semitic comments, according to reports.
