British actress Nikki Sanderson has starred in some of the UK best TV soaps but for the moment she is soaking up the sun in Mallorca. The Hollyoaks star, 41, left the Channel 4 series earlier this year, but prior to that she starred in the likes of Coronation Street, Heartbeat, Casualty and Holby City.
In 2006, Sanderson appeared in a touring production of The Vagina Monologues with Jerry Hall amongst others and an episode of Kay Mellor’s Strictly Confidential.
A keen singer, and karaoke enthusiast, Sanderson has made several television appearances singing, such as ITV’s Madonna Mania, Discomania, Abba Mania 2 and Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes, where her impression of LeAnn Rimes, singing the theme from the film Coyote Ugly, Can’t Fight the Moonlight earned her the winner’s spot.
She has also appeared on The X Factor: Battle of the Stars in the solo 16–24 category, mentored by Sharon Osbourne where she was eliminated fifth. At the time, though, Sanderson was suffering from tonsillitis and was straining her voice to sing. Now she is apparently taking a break but she has said that she is not done with the soap world and would jump to Coronation Street, where she previously played Candice Stowe, if given the chance.
Over the years, she’s also been nominated for several television awards. She won Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards in 2014. The actress has also been nominated for Best Actress at the British Soap Awards, Best Soap Actress at the TV Choice Awards, and Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs.
