Soltour's latest edition of the annual 'Viaje perfecto' report outlines the most popular tourist destinations for 2025 among Spanish travellers, citing Cabo Verde (Isla de Sal), Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote), Balearics (Mallorca, Menorca), Cancún, Punta Cana, Albania, and Morocco as this year’s front runners. The study, based on comprehensive analysis of booking data, reflects a shifting landscape shaped by demand for both exotic escapes and destinations closer to home.
Travellers in 2025 have gravitated towards authentic experiences, blending far-flung getaways with accessible locations. Strong trends have emerged: diversified travel preferences appear alongside greater interest in new arrivals to the tourism scene, coupled with an increasing inclination towards flexible travel choices. A notable development in the sector is the expansion of Soltour's Solo Hotel product, which has attracted 35,000 travellers this year and demonstrates a clear demand for customisable travel.
Preference for the Caribbean and Mediterranean
Compared to previous years, Spanish holidaymakers continue to favour both the Caribbean and Mediterranean, but show a wider appetite for culturally rich and lesser-known destinations. The growing appeal of mixing relaxation with adventure has elevated nature-based breaks and urban escapes alike, which have both seen stronger interest over the past year. Spain remains the preferred destination, while Cabo Verde has surged from fourth to second place, spurred by increased travel to Isla de Sal and Boa Vista.
Emerging and Traditional Hotspots Rise
Also in the top five for 2025 are Tenerife, Cancun, Gran Canaria, and Punta Cana. Notably, European destinations such as Tirana and Ljubljana have solidified their place as trending Eastern European cities, and Morocco strengthens its presence with Fez climbing higher in the rankings. Meanwhile, Samaná and La Romana retain their status as attractive locations within the Dominican Republic.
Spanish travellers have, as Luis Santos, Commercial Director of Soltour Spain and Portugal, notes, continued to "combine classic destinations with new and emerging options". The data signals both continuity and evolution, confirming that the search for the ideal travel experience in 2025 is defined by a balance between tradition, novelty, and greater personalisation.
