A week ago, the Mallorca Hoteliers Federation disputed claims that there was a significant increase in Easter demand because of the conflict in the Middle East and the diversion of tourists away from destinations in the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East itself.

The federation's latest forecast for the Easter holidays would seem to back up what it said. Average occupancy is expected to be around 70%, much the same as last Easter, although Easter this year is a couple of weeks earlier. The level of opening is predicted to be 92%, two percentage points higher than in 2025. The hoteliers attribute this to greater diversification of tourism markets and a trend towards a longer season.

Palma is set to have the highest occupancy - 86%. In the coastal resort municipalities it will vary, but around 70-75% in some.

Vice president María José Aguiló says that diversification is the main driver of demand stability, adding that demand will depend "on the development of the geopolitical landscape". But that doesn't appear to mean a big increase in demand.

One of the main concerns is the increase in costs, especially the rising price of fuel, with direct effects on air and sea transport, as well as on supplies.
