A total of 33 beaches, one more than last year, across 15 municipalities in the Balearics will fly the “Blue Flag” this summer, which promotes the rational use of resources in water sports facilities and activities. In addition, the flag will also fly at 14 marinas on the islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
According to information from the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (Adeac), which awards the flags, the region has gained one on the beaches and remains unchanged in the marinas.
In terms of the number of flags to be flown this summer, the Balearics ranks sixth for beaches and fourth for marinas. Furthermore, the lifeguard service in Muro and the accessibility service in Alcudia have received special mentions.
