Content creator Sofía Surfers has chosen Mallorca as one of her holiday destinations. Through her social media accounts, the influencer has showcased the wonders of this idyllic spot, specifically Cala Banyalbufar, located in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and characterised by its turquoise waters and picturesque jetty. And it is also an area of Mallorca loved by Sir Richard Branson.

OK, Branson may have a vested interest, but when leading travel experts were asked to name their best beach, Sir Richard chose Son Bunyola in Banyalbufar - where he has his luxury hotel .
Branson posted on Instagram: “Son Bunyola is one of the most magical places in the world.
“I’ve been coming to Mallorca since I was a young boy, so it will always have a special place in my heart. This is what led me to buy the Son Bunyola villas and transforming it into a Virgin Limited Edition property.”

The cove in question, located between Punta de sa Galera and Pedra de s’Ase, has become one of the main settings for Sofía’s summer posts. This natural enclave stands out for its unique beauty on the Mallorcan coastline, offering a peaceful environment far from mass tourism. The influencer’s followers have been able to discover, through her posts, the characteristics that make this beach unique: from its pebble and gravel floor to the freshwater waterfall that descends its cliffs.

The images shared by the content creator show an idyllic setting where the intense blue of the Mediterranean contrasts with the imposing cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, capturing the interest of thousands of followers looking for authentic destinations for their next getaways. This unique cove is characterised by its access via a staircase that descends to the beach, where visitors find a terrain mainly composed of pebbles and gravel, with some stretches of sand and posidonia.

Experts recommend wearing suitable footwear to enjoy the surroundings in comfort. One of the most distinctive and photographed features is its small jetty, which adds a picturesque touch to the landscape and serves as an anchorage point for local boats. Among the peculiarities that make this cove special is the natural freshwater waterfall that cascades from the top of the cliffs. This phenomenon not only provides a unique visual element, but also allows bathers to cool off and wash away the sea salt after a dip in its transparent waters.

Its location, at the end of a beautiful inlet and protected by imposing cliffs, favours the formation of these crystal-clear waters that are ideal for swimming and diving, an activity that allows you to discover the seabed of this well-preserved area. For visitors wishing to discover this enclave, access by road requires following the signs to the municipality of Banyalbufar. The journey offers breathtaking views of the rugged coastline of Mallorca, where the characteristic terraces where Malvasia vines are grown stand out, a traditional variety that forms part of the agricultural heritage of the area.

Once in the village, the easiest route is to continue along Calle Major, which leads directly to the cove. This road has a designated parking area, although spaces are limited, especially during the high season. Those who prefer to walk from the centre of Banyalbufar will have to walk approximately 500 metres along a steeply sloping path that is not recommended for families with small children or people with reduced mobility.
