Jet2 has reported stronger summer demand but warned that geopolitical tensions linked to the Iran conflict are creating uncertainty for the peak travel season. The airline and holiday package provider said summer bookings were up 7.7% compared with the same period last year, reflecting steady consumer demand for travel, reports Reuters.

However, the company cautioned that ongoing instability tied to the Iran conflict is affecting its outlook for seat occupancy during the busiest months of the year, when airlines typically generate a significant share of their annual revenue. Jet2 also noted that it has hedged around 87% of its summer jet fuel requirements, a move designed to protect against volatility in fuel prices. The aviation sector has faced rising costs in recent months amid global energy market fluctuations.

While demand trends remain positive, the company signaled that external risks—particularly geopolitical tensions and fuel price uncertainty—could still impact performance in the coming months as the summer travel season approaches. Jet2.com will offer almost 1.5 million seats to the Balearics this summer, representing an increase of more than 135,000 seats, 10% more than in the 2025 summer season. Part of this growth and the summer schedule will be distributed across the months of lower demand within the summer season.

In high season, the airline will reach a peak of more than 300 weekly flights, with direct connections to its 14 bases in the United Kingdom: Bournemouth, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, London-Gatwick, London-Luton, London-Stansted, Newcastle, Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

For its part, the tour operator Jet2holidays, associated with the airline, will work directly with more than 600 hotels in the region, offering complete holiday packages. Mallorca will once again be Jet2.com’s main airport in Spain, with almost 890,000 seats expected to arrive in the summer of 2026, representing an increase of around 90,000 seats compared to the previous season, an 11% increase. At peak times, the island will reach a peak of 182 flights per week.

In the case of Ibiza, the airline will exceed 360,000 seats offered on arrivals, with around 10,000 more seats than in 2025 and a maximum of 78 flights per week during the high season. Menorca will see the highest percentage growth, with an increase of 19% compared to the summer of 2025. The offer will reach almost 240,000 seats on arrivals, some 37,000 more than last season.

Jet2, the UK's third-largest airline, said customers are booking vacations closer to departure since the start of the conflict. "At present, Q1 (April, May, June) combined average load factor is in line with the prior year, with ‌the current geopolitical uncertainty limiting visibility for the peak summer season and beyond," the company said in a statement. JPMorgan analyst Harry Gowers notes that Jet2's pricing could be weaker than prior trends this summer, as the company said it remains committed to "attractive pricing" to appeal to customers.
