The arrival of an Atlantic front this weekend has already led to at least one event being postponed - the Angel Sunday festivities at Palma's Bellver Castle. This will now be on May 10, not at the castle but in one of Palma's parks.
Saturday is due to start brightly but deteriorate later in the day. Quite windy in areas, while the sun may well be obscured by African dust in the atmosphere. By the evening at the latest, there is expected to be general cloud cover and a high risk of rain. Aemet suggests that rain into Sunday will be persistent and may well be muddy because of the dust.
Yellow alerts for all the coasts have been issued for Sunday; these are from 6am with the exception of the south which is from 10am. It is forecast to be very windy across the island, with gusts of 70 and 80 km/h.
The high temperatures will fall and are expected to be at their lowest on Monday. It is currently forecast to continue to be windy until Wednesday, with settled weather returning on Thursday.
