Storm Deborah is due to make herself felt on Thursday, this storm not being one named by the Spanish met agency, Aemet. The most recent one, Storm Therese, didn't impact the Balearics; the final two of the current Aemet alphabetical listing are Vitor and Wilma.
Names aside, storms obviously indicate there is going to be some rough weather, and this at present is largely due to affect the coasts. On Thursday, there is an amber warning for the north and northeast coast from 6am to midnight - waves possibly reaching eight metres and with gusts of 60 km/h. The Tramuntana coast is on yellow alert for the same period, the east coast from noon to midnight. These same alerts are also active for the whole of Friday.
Rain is expected on Thursday, primarily during the night and into the morning. There should be some occasional sunny interludes; the breezes are forecast to be moderate at most. Temperatures certainly nothing to write home about; below average for late March. Friday is likely to be windier in areas and mostly cloudy with some risk of rain.
Snow is possible in the mountains from Thursday into next week; Monday at present has the lowest snowline (900 metres). It's going to be unsettled for several days, with a strong north wind currently forecast for Tuesday.
