Mallorca is expected to see a change in weather conditions later this week, according to María José Guerrero, delegate and spokesperson for the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet) in the Balearic Islands. Forecast models currently indicate that the shift will not take place until Saturday, 28 February.
In contrast, unsettled conditions will arrive earlier in other parts of Spain. Aemet has reported that the run of stable weather across the mainland is likely to come to an end on Wednesday, with rainfall expected in the westernmost regions and in Ceuta. Guerrero explained that this system will not reach Mallorca, which will remain under stable conditions until the weekend.
However, some localised disruption is anticipated in the short term. A yellow warning for fog has been issued for Tuesday morning, affecting southern, inland and eastern areas of the island, where visibility may drop to around 200 metres until 9 am. Similar foggy conditions were already recorded on Monday.
Once the fog clears, skies are expected to be largely clear. Temperatures will show little variation, with night-time lows remaining relatively low at between 2°C and 12°C, below the seasonal average. Daytime temperatures, by contrast, will be higher than usual for late February, reaching between 18°C and 23°C, with light winds blowing from the south and south-west.
Looking ahead, Guerrero said that the current pattern should hold until Saturday. If forecasts remain on track, a noticeable change is expected then, with stronger winds developing and temperatures beginning to fall, marking the end of the current spell of settled weather.
