A wind of near gale force expected overnight Friday, with gusts of up to 80 km/h. For some of Mallorca, the wind is forecast to moderate at times. In northern and central areas, however, it is likely to be fresh to strong all day. The wind will then pick up again late on and overnight.
The fiercest wind is due to be in the interior, for which there is an amber alert for high winds from 4am until midnight - gusts of 90 km/h. There are yellow alerts for wind in the south (4am to 2pm) and in the Tramuntana and north/northeast from 4am to 8pm. All the coasts are on yellow alert until 5pm, effective from midnight Friday in the south and the east and from 4am in the Tramuntana and north/northeast. At present there are no weather warnings for Sunday.
Rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday morning. There will also be sunny spells during the day. Sunday, once overnight wind dies down, should be a pleasant enough day; very little risk of rain. The forecast for Monday up to Thursday doesn't look great at the moment; rain at times and more strong winds.
