Another windy day in prospect, met agency alerts suggesting it will be windier than on Tuesday, when there were yellow alerts for high winds in the south and the Tramuntana.
These warnings will remain place until 6am Wednesday and be upgraded to amber up to midnight - gusts of 90 km/h. There are also yellow warnings for the east (12 noon to midnight) and the interior (2pm to midnight). Aemet suggests there could be gusts up to 85 km/h.
Wind alerts have so far not been issued for Thursday, but yellow warnings for the coasts are active for a time. On Wednesday, these are amber for the south and east from midnight Tuesday to 6am Wednesday, yellow until noon, and amber again until midnight. For the Tramuntana and north/northeast, there are yellow alerts from 2pm to midnight. Waves in the amber zones could reach six metres.
Otherwise on Wednesday, there is a high risk of rain; thunderstorms are possible. There should also be sunny spells.
The outlook at present is remaining windy until the weekend.
A note on wind speeds and gusts: As can be seen below, the strongest gust on Tuesday up to 5.30pm was in Cabrera. 87 km/h isn't out of the ordinary. Gusts have generally been in the 50-60 range. The maximum wind speed was 67 km/h, also in Cabrera; that is gale force. Maximums elsewhere were in the 40s.
