There has been an improvement in the forecast for Friday. It is now expected to be fine all day and with little risk of rain, so the Sant Antoni festivities in the evening should be unaffected. The breezes will also continue to be negligible, which is an advantage given all the bonfires.
However, and as noted in previous reports, the weather is due to take a turn for the worse, Aemet now saying that a trough will move in and remain in place for several days. Yellow warnings for rain in the south and east have been issued for 6am to midnight on Saturday - up to 20 litres of rainfall per square metre. These could yet be widened on Saturday, as weather stations are continuing to predict thunderstorms for much of the island, and there are likely to be more warnings from Sunday onwards. Strong winds, especially in northern areas, are still being forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Sant Sebastià party with all the concerts in Palma on Monday night looks as if it will be wet - which is pretty much as it is each year - but the wind at present doesn't appear to be a factor.
