A spell of wintry weather is forecast to reach Mallorca early next week, with meteorologists warning that snow could be seen for the first time in 2026. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says snow is likely above around 800 metres on Monday, signalling a sharp shift to colder conditions.

In the days leading up to the cold snap, the island will experience milder weather as Storm Francis moves through the western Mediterranean. Saturday is expected to bring thick cloud cover, becoming more widespread by the evening. There is a chance of light, sporadic rain, while temperatures are forecast to remain steady or edge slightly higher. Winds will initially be light from southern directions before turning easterly later in the day.

By Sunday, conditions are set to deteriorate further, with overcast skies and occasional rain across much of Mallorca. Daytime temperatures are forecast to fall, although night-time readings are likely to remain largely unchanged. Northerly winds will strengthen, at times becoming quite gusty.

The coldest air is expected to arrive on Monday, when unsettled conditions will continue and snow may fall on the Serra de Tramuntana and other elevated areas. Snow levels are forecast to drop to around 800 metres later in the day.

With Three Kings’ Day celebrations planned across the island, authorities have advised residents and visitors to stay alert to the latest weather updates as colder, windier conditions take hold.
