Cala Millor bore the brunt of a severe storm on Wednesday afternoon that produced 51 litres per square metre of rainfall in just 20 minutes, as recorded by the Son Servera weather station. This included a hailstorm.
In Cala Millor, streets were flooded and restaurant terraces totally inundated. Several trees were brought down by gusts of more than 70 km/h.
The main street in Son Servera was partially blocked for a time by the accumulation of hail.
Arta was also badly affected; there were 38 litres of rain per square metre in thirty minutes.
The met agency hadn't issued yellow alerts for rain and thunderstorms in the north and northeast; these were for the interior and the east. The alerts for the north and northeast were eventually activated around 2pm.
As can be seen in the Aemet chart, precipitation was very localised.
