A 46-year-old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil for brutally striking a 12-year-old boy during a friendly soccer game in Lloseta. The man ran onto the pitch after the victim accidentally struck his son, who is the same age. The victim had to be hospitalised with concussion.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the Camp Municipal Es Puig, where a group of youngsters were playing football.
According to initial reports, it all started as a result of a tackle in which one of the players sustained an injury. The father of the injured boy ran onto the field visibly agitated and suddenly began attacking the child.
The man struck him several times over the head, as the rest of the teammates and other witnesses looked on in horror.
Initial reports indicated that the child had been knocked unconscious as a result of the assault. However, it was later clarified that the child was actually dazed and shaken by the blows. He needed hospital treatment.
