This Saturday Paguera is gearing up for one of the island’s biggest sporting events of the year as Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2025 takes place this Saturday from 9am in the heart of Calvia. More than 1,600 athletes from 49 countries will take part in the international triathlon, accompanied by their families and supporters. From Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 October, visitors can also enjoy a packed programme of sporting, cultural, musical and gastronomic activities, designed to showcase Mallorca’s unique character and offer an irresistible mix of competition and holiday atmosphere.
The Competition
Some of the world’s top middle-distance triathletes will gather in Paguera to compete for the coveted Siurell trophy. Over its ten editions, the Challenge has built a reputation for attracting some of the biggest names in the sport – and the 2025 event promises to continue that tradition.
In the women’s race, all eyes will be on Germany’s Lena Meissner, currently 23rd in the PTO world rankings, who this season claimed victory at Ironman 70.3 Sweden. Her toughest competition is expected to come from Britain’s Daisy Davies (43rd in the PTO rankings), fresh from her win at Challenge Almere, and Sweden’s Anna Bergsten (49th), who finished third at Challenge Samarkand in August.
In the men’s professional field, attention turns to Britain’s James Teagle (73rd in the PTO rankings), who recently secured second place at Ironman 70.3 Tallinn, and Serbia’s Ognjen Stojanović (79th), who finished third on the podium at CPM24.
Age Groups and Relays
Beyond the elite field, hundreds of age-group competitors will take to the course, ranging in age from 18 to 82 years old. The event also includes a relay race, with men’s, women’s and mixed teams competing. Both the age-group and relay categories have seen record participation this year, with all places selling out well in advance.
A Celebration of Mallorca
More than a race, Challenge Peguera Mallorca is a celebration of the island itself — its landscape, culture and traditions. The organisers aim to give participants an authentic taste of Mallorca through a full programme of events, including:
- Opening “Nit de Foc” (Night of Fire) – Thursday 16, 8pm

A Community Effort
The event represents a true collaboration between public institutions and the private sector. It is organised by the Calvia 365 Foundation and the Calvia Town Council, in partnership with the Spanish and Balearic Triathlon Federations and with the support of the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB).
Key partners include the Paguera and Cala Fornells Hotel Association, local hotel groups Valentín Hotels and Universal Beach Hotels, Challenge Family, and international brands such as Powerbar, Red Bull and X-Bionic.
The event also enjoys the enthusiastic involvement of local clubs and residents, with more than 650 volunteers helping to make the weekend a success.
