Real Mallorca 2 - Granada 6
A six-pointer, as they say, both Mallorca and Granada scrapping to avoid the drop from LaLiga Santander.
Granada's keeper, Luis Maximiano, saved from Take Kubo after just three minutes, but things didn't go to plan for Mallorca three minutes later, when Luis Suárez put the visitors one-up. In response, Vedat Muriqi was causing the Granada defence some problems before Salva Sevilla's long-range effort brought Mallorca level on 27 minutes.
Three minutes before half-time, Mallorca had a goal ruled out for offside against Pablo Maffeo, the home side - after the early goal from Granada - having had the better of the first period.
Immediately after the break, full-back Sergio Escudero restored Granada's lead, and worse was to come on 54 minutes. Kubo lost the ball, and Antonio Puertas finished off a good move to make it three. Mallorca needed a swift reply and they got it - Antonio Raíllo heading in from Maffeo's assist.
The goal didn't give Mallorca the impetus they required, and on 69 minutes Granada once more had a two-goal advantage, thanks to 40-year-old striker Jorge Molina. Raíllo went from hero to villain, when his error let in Myrto Uzuni to make it five for Granada on 76 minutes. Molina scored his second just before the end of normal time, the stadium by now less than half full.
Mallorca, with three matches left, are now seventeenth with 32 points from 35 and an inferior goal difference (-30) to all the other teams battling against relegation. Granada move up to sixteenth (34 points from 35), below Getafe (36 from 34). Cadiz, who are in eighteenth with 32 points from 34, play 13th-placed Elche at home later. Levante are nineteenth (29 from 35), and Alavés are bottom with 28 from 34; they are away to Celta Vigo.
