Real Mallorca, now back in Spanish professional football in La Liga 2 or La Segunda or La Liga 123 (stylised for Banco Santander for sponsorship reasons), are just about to begin their 2018/19 season ticket sales campaign. Prices range from 85 to 210 euros.
Because of chaotic scenes last season when demand totally outweighed resources, causing long queues which completely swamped the ticket office staff, the club have opened an online website where tickets can be obtained on “renueva tu abono”. If you use that method you'll be entitled to a 15% discount in the two club shops in Plaza Cort and Son Moix until Friday 29 June. The other alternative is to go along to the Son Moix ticket office in the main stand from the same date until Monday 6 August, Monday-Friday, 09:30 -14:00 and 16:00-19:30.
Prices are: LUIS SITJAR stand, 85 euros or 60€ for OAPs or young people under 14 years; GRADA SOL BAJA, facing the main stand, 125 euros or 75 euros; and in the TRIBUNA (main stand) 210 euros or 160 euros. These prices are amongst the cheapest in the Spanish second division and a ticket in Grada Sol Baja works out at just under six euros per home game. If you're a first-time season ticket buyer, the prices are 105/65, 165/105 and 255/195 euros. Just a reminder to take along some kind of legal ID, e.g. passport.
Mallorca have been busy in the transfer market in preparation for what is going to be a tough test in La Liga 2. Two midfielders have been signed, 30-year-old Dani Rodriguez from Albacete, who scored six goals last season, and Sergio Moyita, a right-sided midfielder aged 25 from Segunda B Seville club Ecija; he netted seven goals from 36 starts.
The most exciting newcomer is 24-year-old striker Sergio Buenacasa. He was born in Zaragoza and made a couple of appearances for the first team. He started out at the famous Barcelona academy then had a spell in Italy with Juventus. He spent last season at Segunda B team Barakaldo where he scored 14 goals.
Returning to the second division, which looks likely to start on the weekend of 18/19 August, means the end of 12 midday kick-offs as games will be played on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or even Monday. It also means the return of squad numbers and players' names on the back of the jerseys.
