Real Mallorca, riding high at the top of Segunda B, Grupo 3 away at Olot (Gerona), would have been anticipating three points before the start of the match. Olot, eighteenth with ten points and just one home win, were after all up against a Mallorca side with 39 points and five wins on the road so far this season.
López went close in just the first minute as Mallorca took charge of the first half. However, a defensive home side allowed few scoring chances. Abdón, shooting from distance, created the best opportunity on 35 minutes; Lago was unable to capitalise on the rebound.
In the second period Mallorca were more or less camped in the Olot half. A fine individual effort by López on 73 minutes was followed by two clear chances in the 79th, only for Olot to almost steal the game with six minutes remaining.
A frustrating afternoon for Mallorca, who weren't at their best but have to get used to teams in this league setting out to stifle them.
