Llagostera 3 - Real Mallorca 0
Mallorca away at Llagostera, below them in the relegation zone. Following the encouraging home win against high-flying Oviedo last week, were Mallorca about to get on a run?
Llagostera it was who created the first opportunity on nine minutes, Wellenreuther needing two goes to keep out a Tébar header. Salomao's back pass to the German keeper midway through the half led to a corner and an intensive spell of Llagostera pressure during which Wellenreuther and Aveldaño together managed to almost let the home side in before Juanjo finally put Llagostera ahead on the half hour.
Things got worse for the visitors in the second period. Pitu struck with a direct free kick following a foul by Lago Júnior, which was to earn him a booking for protesting, and four minutes later, Wellenreuther, unable to control another effort, let Juanjo in for his second. Ten minutes later and it could have been four as Wellenreuther saved from Chumbi.
With Almeria having won earlier, Mallorca slip back into the relegation bottom four on the same negative goal difference but having scored fewer goals, which just about sums the team up. Can't score. Mallorca do have a game in hand, because of the postponed match against Huesca a fortnight ago that it is to be played on Wednesday.
