Real Mallorca 0 - Huesca 1
Mallorca, languishing in the lower reaches of the second division, played host to a team languishing lower - bottom. Time for the season to be kick-started for Mallorca against a side which, nevertheless, had knocked them out of Copa del Rey at their place.
Mallorca dominated for the first twenty minutes or so without creating a chance of any real note. Huesca got more into the match and were having more goal attempts, even if these were as unthreatening as Mallorca's. Nil-nil at half time, and a dull nil-nil at that.
Second period, and on came Bianchi to look if he could add some firepower, meaning that it was Huesca who actually had an effort (by Machis) that required a save and then meaning that it was Tyronne who put Huesca in front after almost 20 minutes of the second half, the assist coming from Machis, who was by now making a real nuisance of himself.
Wellenreuther, distinguishing himself in goal once more, was beaten by substitute Merida's effort on 80 minutes which hit the post. Huesca were now thoroughly in charge, Mallorca's sub, Sabater, valiantly trying to claw things back, but to no avail, while the faithful screamed "out, out".
The taxi may well be pulling up for coach Chapi Ferrer, and owner Utzi will be paying the fare.
