The end of the academic year was celebrated on the evening before the final day of school for pupils in Years 3 - 13.
Clementina, Alejandro, Sebastian and Emily (sixth form prefects), presented the events at the celebration. The primary children sang "Macavity" reflecting their June performance, "The Song of the Jellicles" and the secondary choir sang "Viva la Vida" to close the celebration.
Certificates were presented for academic effort and achievement and for the Duke of Edinburgh awards; cups were handed over to the winning "houses" in both primary and secondary departments. The Year 6 students personalised their graduation caps and waved them at their proud parents and teachers; the house captains wrote poems about their primary years and the whole school community wished the Year 13 students all the very best; they are now excitedly awaiting their results and preparing to move on to their chosen universities.
Farewell and thank you!
The primary song, "The Circle of Life", was dedicated to Mrs Heather Muntaner on her retirement. Heather began her career as an English teacher at Queen’s College when she moved to Mallorca from Northern Ireland in 1981. She was then appointed as the deputy head teacher in recognition of her abilities and dedication and assumed the leadership of the school in 1990; a position she held for over 30 years.
Heather made a positive impact on students, parents and teachers alike, striving always for the very best for everyone in the school community. Heather transformed Queen's College into a leading institution amongst British schools in Spain; this was recognized by the Foreign Office last year when she was awarded the MBE honour (Member of the Order of the British Empire)
The Queen's College community wishes her the very best for her retirement.
