A 67-year-old man died on Friday evening when his MG ZS crashed into a wall on the old Inca road (MA-13a) in the Santa Maria area.
The accident happened shortly before 7.30. The driver, who was unaccompanied, veered off the road past a bend, and the car crashed head-on into a stone wall.
Emergency responders managed to remove him from the wreckage. He had in the meantime lost a significant amount of blood. There was nothing that paramedics could do to save his life.
It is believed that the driver had suffered a medical crisis. The autopsy will establish if this was the case.
