A man has been arrested after allegedly kissing a four-year-old British boy at a hotel swimming pool in Magalluf, police in Mallorca said.
The suspect, a Romanian national born in 1993, was unknown to the child and is being investigated on suspicion of sexual assault by the Guardia Civil. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at a hotel in the resort.
Witnesses told officers the man approached the boy in the hotel pool area before allegedly hugging and kissing him on the face in front of other guests. The child’s mother intervened immediately and the man stopped, according to investigators.
Several bystanders alerted hotel staff, who contacted the Calvia Local Police. Officers attended the scene, spoke with witnesses and the boy’s parents, and arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.
Following his detention, the man was transferred to the Guardia Civil as the investigation continued. The suspect later appeared before a judge at Palma’s investigating courts to give evidence, while the child’s parents have since returned to the UK.
