A group of dolphins was observed on Wednesday close to the shoreline of Illetes beach in Mallorca, attracting the attention of those present in the area. The cetaceans appeared within a few metres of the coast, surfacing several times and showing their dorsal fins before diving again and heading further out to sea.
Witnesses on a nearby boat managed to capture the event on their mobile phones, documenting the animals in their natural habitat. This sighting generated interest among onlookers following the movements of the dolphins from the shore.
Encounters with dolphins in the marine surroundings of the island are considered relatively common, especially when the sea is calm. However, each appearance remains noteworthy for both residents and tourists.
Summer is regarded as the best time to spot these marine mammals, due to favourable weather and increased marine activity. The period offers optimal visibility and conditions that encourage dolphins to stay closer to the coast.
