A 58-year-old man died on Wednesday afternoon after an accident at his farm in Pollensa. He was working with an angle grinder when a spark ignited a gasoline can and caused it to explode. The fire spread rapidly and engulfed him.
The accident occurred around 2pm in the Torre de Ariant area of Pollensa. A local police officer on a motorbike, alerted by a witness, was quickly on the scene and started attempts to resuscitate the man.
The emergency response included a helicopter for a possible air transfer, but it was not needed. Medics were unable to save his life.
The Guardia Civil are investigating the circumstances.
