The Illes en Resistència group has spoken out on social media against the proliferation of tourist excursions in buggies around Cala Millor and Sa Coma, an activity which, they claim, is having a significant environmental impact on rural roads and natural spaces in the area.
The group highlights online promotion of buggy tours through various locations along the Mallorcan coast. The experience, aimed at visitors seeking a more adventurous leisure activity, includes routes along dirt tracks, stops at viewpoints and coastal areas, as well as the opportunity to drive these off-road vehicles for several hours. The price is around 79 euros per person, depending on the chosen option.
They consider these excursions to be incompatible with conservation. "How can anyone want to go on these trips for 79 euros? They're destroying the lanes, we have to stop this, NOW!"
The regular passage of these vehicles causes degradation of trails, creates noise pollution, and contributes to soil erosion, especially in sensitive areas near the coast.
A few days ago, the same group denounced the offer of organised excursions to little-known and hidden coves in Mallorca that had been advertised on Tripadvisor.
