Muro Town Hall has formally approved an order for the demolition of a building in Ses Casetes des Capellans (Playa de Muro). At Monday's council meeting, approval was also given to impose coercive fines of €600 per month until it is demolished. If the demolition hasn't been carried out after one year, the town hall may decide to demolish the building itself and pass the bill on.

Mayor Miquel Porquer said: "The decision is supported by the corresponding legal reports, which cover the construction carried out without a permit and another case for violating the seal placed by the local police."

In 2025, the environmentalists GOB lodged a complaint against the building. One of the some 140 summer houses in Capellans had been demolished and another one was being built in its place. The town hall ordered the work to be halted, and the police sealed off the site. It then revoked the concession for the use of the space by the person responsible for the demolition and subsequent rebuilding.

The Capellans summer houses are for Muro residents only - this is the legacy of the original agreement for the ceding of the area to the town hall by the Church. Residents don't own the properties; they are made available through concessions awarded by the town hall. Historically, there has been some leniency for minor work, but the mayor stresses that "we cannot allow extensions, demolitions or reconstructions, actions for which the town hall itself would have to be held responsible".
