As the Mediterranean prepares for another crowded summer season, Click&Boat and Uber are betting that the future of travel in destinations such as Mallorca will increasingly unfold at sea rather than on the roads. From mid-June, the two companies will launch a new partnership designed to make hiring a boat as simple and familiar as ordering a car through a smartphone app, placing Mallorca at the heart of one of Europe’s most ambitious nautical mobility projects.

The island has been selected as one of Spain’s flagship launch destinations, alongside cities including Barcelona and Valencia, reflecting both Mallorca’s international tourism appeal and its long-standing connection to the sea. Through a new “Boat” section integrated into Uber’s app, visitors will be redirected directly to Click&Boat’s booking platform, where they will be able to arrange day-long excursions around the island’s coastline in just a few steps. The aim, according to the companies, is to bring boating into everyday holiday culture, even for those with no sailing experience or licence.

For Mallorca, where tourism operators continue searching for higher-value and more sustainable visitor experiences, the timing is significant. Demand for private excursions, secluded coves and premium coastal activities has surged in recent years, particularly among travellers looking to escape overcrowded beaches during the peak summer months. The partnership is expected to capitalise on that trend by offering skippered day trips tailored to holidaymakers seeking sunset cruises, watersports, onboard dining or excursions to some of the island’s less accessible bays.

Click&Boat says the operation has been structured around simplicity and reassurance. Every booking available through the Uber integration will include a professional skipper, allowing visitors to enjoy a full day at sea without needing any technical knowledge. Pricing will remain identical across both platforms, while all participating boats and owners must comply with the company’s safety and quality standards. Behind the scenes, the French-founded charter platform will draw upon its global fleet of more than 55,000 vessels to support demand throughout the Balearic summer season.

For Mallorca’s charter industry, the collaboration could provide a major commercial boost at a crucial point in the year. By exposing local boat owners to Uber’s enormous international customer base, the initiative promises to increase visibility during the busiest months of the tourist calendar. More broadly, it reinforces Mallorca’s growing status not simply as a beach destination, but as one of the Mediterranean’s leading centres for luxury and experience-driven maritime tourism.
