A tourist has sparked outrage in Mallorca after being filmed roller skiing along the winding roads of the Serra de Tramuntana while traffic passed nearby. The footage, widely shared on social media, shows the woman using roller skis and ski poles as she descends one of the island’s busiest mountain routes.
The video was posted by the Instagram account Mallorca Viral and quickly drew criticism from residents and motorists concerned about safety on the narrow roads. The Serra de Tramuntana, a Unesco-listed mountain range popular with cyclists and tourists, attracts heavy traffic during the summer season, particularly on scenic routes used by coaches, hire cars and motorbikes.
In the footage, the woman can be seen travelling downhill on the carriageway as though she were on a ski trail, weaving through bends while vehicles approach from behind. Social media users described the behaviour as reckless and warned that it could easily have resulted in a serious accident.
Many commenters called for tougher enforcement and financial penalties for dangerous activities carried out on public roads. Others argued that Mallorca was increasingly being treated as an “adventure playground” for tourists seeking viral moments or extreme sporting experiences.
The incident has reignited debate on the island about tourist behaviour and road safety in rural areas, where local residents have long complained about congestion and hazardous driving during the summer months. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any action will be taken in relation to the video.
