Greggs is set to open its first store in Spain, located in the international departures area of Tenerife South Airport, just in time for the summer travel season. The bakery chain’s only international outlet will offer holidaymakers familiar British favourites alongside locally inspired products from later this month.

Announcing the opening, Greggs said it had “packed all of the essentials: delicious flavours, freshly prepared food and the familiar feeling of your flaky favourites served fresh.” The company added that customers can expect “the Greggs you know and love, just with a sun-soaked twist.”

The new shop will operate in partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, which manages more than 5,000 outlets worldwide. Tenerife was chosen due to its popularity as a holiday destination, with Tenerife South Airport serving around 13 million passengers annually, approximately half of whom travel to and from the UK.

The outlet’s menu will feature a range of baked goods, sausage rolls, sweet treats and freshly prepared sandwiches. New additions created especially for the Spanish location will include a Spanish Omelette Breakfast Roll, freshly squeezed orange juice bottled in-store daily, and sweet items such as a Blueberry Muffin.

Greggs also highlighted that the store will offer “the most affordable breakfast deal across the entire airport” until midday, aimed at travellers making the journey home. In a playful nod to its famous savoury snacks, the company added: “Skip the duty free and novelty fridge magnets – bring home the souvenir of a Sausage Roll baked in Spain.” The store will have seating for up to 92 customers, offering passengers a place to relax before their flights.
