The young British tourist who died at a property in Santa Margalida, Mallorca, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, was The Only Way is Essex star Jake Hall, according to British media reports. As the Bulletin reported yesterday, according to the police, the 35-year-old was found dead at a holiday villa with head injuries after a night out.
Officers were called to the rented house in Santa Margalida in the north of the island at around 7.30am on Wednesday (May 6) morning where the police spoke to other guests at the property.
The Guardia Civil believes that the victim, who they have not officially identified, died after throwing himself against a glass window.
This is the main theory being considered by investigators from the Judicial Police, who have taken charge of the case and spent the whole of Wednesday gathering evidence and statements in the area, sources close to the investigation have told Europa Press. The incident took place between Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning in an apartment where the deceased was on holiday with a group of people.
The main line of inquiry, although officers have not ruled out other possibilities, is that the young man, “a British national, spent the night out partying”. Upon returning to the flat, due to his highly agitated state, he is believed to have injured himself by lunging at a window. The impact and the shards of glass caused injuries to his chest, which proved fatal.
Investigators are still awaiting the results of the post-mortem, which should determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, officers have carried out a visual inspection of the property in Santa Margalida and have taken statements from both the deceased’s companions and potential witnesses.
Jake shot to fame on TOWIE in 2015 as a friend of Vas J Morgan and the ex-boyfriend of Chloe Lewis. He was a regular on the reality TV series from series 14 to series 17. He leaves behind his eight-year-old daughter, River, who he shares with Real Housewives of Cheshire star Missé Beqiri. The pair were previously engaged in May 2018, but later that year Jake was hit with a restraining order and the couple later split. He often spent time in Mallorca where he had a second home used as a base for work and leisure. Originally from east London, Hall's family moved to Mallorca when he was a child. "That's where there were happy times growing up," he once said.
A Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.” Before his death, Hall shared an Instagram post from Spain, writing: “Life is b*******s sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things. Looking through things. I’m just making art – in many forms.”
